Welcome to my blog!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my first ever blog post. My name is Robyn Harris and I’m a wheelchair user from London. I have been blogging on and of ever since I was 16 but I have never taken it seriously until now. I have always wanted to start a wheelchair travel blog but I never knew how to start. Over the years, I’ve read so many blogs created by other wheelchairs users. This then made me get inspired to create my own. I just get so embarrassed when people read my writing but if I want to help the disability community I just have to get used to it.
Ive not always been in a wheelchair. When I was younger, I attended school, I could run around. I was completely independent but everything went down hill when I turned 13 years old. I suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury during surgery. I was completely paralysed from the shoulders down. I couldn’t breathe on my own. It was awful. I could only move my eyes nothing else. I had to have a tracheostomy due to losing my swallow. I’ve still got the trace but it doesn’t stop me from living my best life.
At the beginning of my injury I wouldn’t get out of the house. I would isolate for years. I was just to embarrassed because I didn’t want people to see me as a wheelchair user especially someone who knew me before I was paralysed. But after covid hit I started to become more active. I loved trying new things. I loved exploring new places. Unfortunately, I still can speak due to my tracheostomy but I am still able to make things work.
I’m honestly so excited to finally start this blog and share my adventures with you. My goal is to show that travel can be accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for everyone, no matter their mobility needs or disabilities. Along the way, I’ll be sharing honest experiences, practical tips, destination guides, and recommendations to help make planning accessible trips a little easier.
Whether you’re looking for wheelchair-friendly attractions, accessible accommodation, transport advice, or simply some inspiration for your next adventure, I hope this blog becomes a helpful resource. I can’t wait to explore new places, highlight what works (and what doesn’t), and build a community of travellers who believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to see the world.
